    Overcoming the Pain Body

Undoubtedly most thinking happens to us and flows through us. Becoming "possessed" however by the voice in the head and conditioned to react to the past can involve demonic influences. Demons like buzzards feed on decaying corpses. For us that means demon spirits cleave to hurts and wounds within the soul of an individual, where they can further fester and wreak havoc.

We all have hurts and wounds, which if not healed will fester and further recycle former pain in us. Overcoming hurts and wounds requires:

    1. Forgiveness

Forgiveness frees the soul and enables you to stop carrying the burdensome grievance. Ultimately we must remember that many things we cannot change, neither should we try to do so. Some matters will never come to a place of closure. On the contrary they will further fester and torment us unless we forgive and release them. Forgiveness is as much for us as it is for the wrongdoer. Otherwise holding in those toxic emotions are destructive to your emotional and physical well being.

    2. Refusing to identify your personhood with the painful experience(s)

Although we cannot control what happens to us, we can choose how we respond to and interpret the circumstances. Inwardly we can patiently possess our soul and maintain a place of victory, as we resourcefully sustain a place of personal power and proceed to be proactive rather than reactive in any given situation.

    3. Quieting your soul in order to go deeper to your place of peace within your spirit.

Harnessing your emotions requires you to inwardly shut out all other distractions, voices, and irritations. This often is the biggest battle because people in our generation can be pushy and feel because of modern technology they are entitled to immediate access to you. This is not true.

Erecting boundaries and when necessary barriers to protect your soul, guard your heart, and sustain inner peace is vital. Answer machines, turning off the phone entirely, going to the bathroom, and getting in your car and driving away are just some ways to protect your peace when in the middle of a flurry of emotional activity.

Unkind words, pushy people, manipulative relatives, demanding employers, cranky customers, crying kids, belittling teenagers, and abusive spouses can all take their toll on us. Most in this era have forgotten how to respect themselves, quiet their soul, and remove themselves from soulish intrusions that steal their inner peace.

Jesus often removed Himself from social interactions and settings to get alone, quiet His soul, find a place of solitude, and reconnect with divine Being to be made whole.

    We must do the same.

Demons however are pushy, accusatory, belittling, lying, and aggressive. Evil spirits come as voices that bombard our thoughts, seek to sway our souls, and entice us to act hastily. When we pull back and quiet our soul, breathe deeply, and get anchored inwardly; we can overcome the pressures outwardly that seek to snare us.

The spirit within you is made in the image of God, the great Spirit who created heaven and earth. Demon spirits come from the outside seeking entry within. Like a bird flying overhead, there is often nothing you can do about outside activity be it through people, circumstances, or demon spirits. What you can do is renew and strengthen your mind whereby when such external stimuli comes by, you are anchored within, know the Word of God, and respond swiftly to conquer the adversary.

The "pain body" as Eckhart and Oprah call it is often perpetuated when triggers occur, causing us to access pain from the past. Triggers can come in the form of media, conversations, mentioning an event, images, etc. Therefore we cannot run or remove ourselves from the occasional trigger that might go off.

Yet if we have forgiven, released the matter unto God, and recognized our identity is by no means linked to the person or situation; we have arrived at a place of internal awareness and consciousness where we can be free from its influence over us. Such a place of being whole apart from the former afflicting matter or individual attests to your inward transformation and dis-identification.

Moving beyond the movie screens of our minds, discarding the painful imagery of the past, and embracing a heavenly vision of ourselves is liberating and transformative. However, the devil who is the "father of lies" seeks to get you to identify with your failures and painful past (John 8:44), whereby he can forever hold you in captivity to it.

God, however, gives every human being a new beginning and makes "all things new" (see 6:4; Revelation 21:5).

To have and experience "a new earth" as God promises humanity, we first must be renewed inwardly. This means we begin to identify with our spiritual identity rather than societal labelings, past behavior, and former pain experienced. Upon lifting up our eyes and reconnecting with our Creator in whom our identity is formless and found, we can let life and love abound. Therein we can rest, have peace, and be free.
